Specific requirements have to be met by the artificial lung (oxygenator), especially for long term application (e.g. for the ECMO (extra corporeal membrane oxygenation). Continuous performance stability at smallest exchange surface and low pressure gradient is required.
Especially the problem of plasma leakage limits the application with standard hollow fibre oxygenators. This is why MEDOS developed the HILITE® LT series. All oxygenators of the HILITE® LT series are equipped with a plasma tight membrane of polymethylpentene which prevents a plasma leakage. This is even possible at same transfer performance, priming volume and same pressure loss compared to oxygenators with micro porous hollow fibre.
The HILITE® LT series from MEDOS thus proves to clearly be a better alternative to silicone membrane oxygenators.
All models of the HILITE® LT series are principally RHEOPARIN® coated. But can be ordered without coating upon customers request. |
