MEDOS HILITE^® - Product Spectrum

The oxygenator models of the HILITE^® series impress with their
excellent performance and practice orientated features.

The spectrum covers oxygenators for infants with lowest priming volume and 0,8 l/min blood-flow, up to systems for adults with 7 l/min blood-flow. The oxygenator models can optionally be ordered with microporous- or innovative plasma tight fibres for long term application.

All oxygenators of the HILITE^® series are available with RHEOPARIN^® coating.

Description

The HILITE^® oxygenator is a membrane oxygenator with an integrated heat exchanger. It provides for the blood-gas exchange in the extracorporeal circulation and adjusts the temperature of the arterial blood. The spectrum ranges from systems for infants up to systems for adults.

The oxygenation part of the HILITE^® 1000, HILITE^® 2800 and HILITE^® 7000 is equipped with micro porous hollow fibre membranes, whereas the oxygenation part of the long term types HILITE^® 800 LT, HILITE^® 2400 LT and HILITE^® 7000 LT is equipped with plasma tight hollow fibre membranes. The heat exchanger is equipped with closed synthetic hollow fibres.

The high functional safety of the HILITE^® hollow fibre oxygenators is achieved by the constellation of vertical blood-, water- and gas flows. Because of the specific flow directions and transparent housing, air detection and subsequently venting is made safe and easy.

Operational mode HILITE^® oxygenator

The gas-exchange part of the HILITE^® oxygenator is equipped with micro porous or closed hollow fibre membranes. The gas-flow takes place through the inner lumen of the hollow fibre, the blood-flow through the outer membranes. Oxygen is diffused via the membrane from gas-side to blood while carbon monoxide is removed from the blood.
